Contenuti

Villa Saluzzo Serra, an ancient building constructed and enlarged between the late 16th and 19th centuries, immersed in Nervi’s historic parks, has been home to Genoa’s Gallery of Modern Art since 1928. The gallery’s collection traces its origins back to a nucleus of works which belonged to prince Odone di Savoia, donated to the City in 1866 and successively integrated with bequests and purchasing campaigns on occasion of some of the country’s most prestigious exhibitions. It is one of four museums located in Nervi, home to important art collections, with works from the 18th to the 20th century, with particular focus on artistic production in Liguria as well as associated Italian and foreign contexts, from romanticism, the search for truth, symbolism, futurism, right up to 20th-century trends. Following renovation works and a new set-up project, in 2004 the exhibition route has been enriched with a few works from the neighbouring Wolfsonian Museum.
